This chart shows the rate of motor vehicle theft per 100,000 people across U.S. regions and top metropolitan areas. The Western and Southern regions have the highest theft rates, while the Northeast and Midwest remain the safest.

Pacific: Highest theft rate at 353.7 per 100,000. West South Central: Second highest at 268.4 per 100,000. Northeast: Lowest rates overall, around 90.7–103.5 per 100,000. Midwest: Moderate rates, but West North Central spikes to 248.5 per 100,000.
