Comparison of animal intakes between two half-years

The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County says there was nearly no change between the number of owner-surrendered or stray animals brought into the shelter during the second halves of 2024 and 2025.

The owner-surrendered and stray animal figures in 2024 exclude Federal Way. The stray animal figure in 2025 excludes animals cared for by the community instead of utilizing shelter space, according to the Humane Society.
