US refineries are operating very close to their limits

Oil refineries in the U.S. are running at full throttle, nearing 100% of their capacity. That leaves very little wiggle room to accommodate equipment breakdowns, power failures or other problems. Any interruption would mean reducing production of diesel fuel and other petroleum products.
