Linking substandard housing to kids' asthma

In Cincinnati, researchers found that children living in zip codes with higher rates of asthma-related code violations are also more likely to be hospitalized or go to the ER due to asthma. A similar trend is found in Milwaukee.

Hospital data is from 2018-2020. Code violation data is from 2016-2020. Violations are considered asthma-relevant if the order mentions mold, mildew, dust, rodents, pests, or water leaks.
