Where the Down Payment Burden Has Grown Most

Time needed to save for a home down payment is a point-in-time affordability estimate. Down payment is calculated based on 20% of each state's typical home value in 2016 and 2026. Time to save is calculated on an assumed savings rate equal to 10% of median household income in 2016 and 2026.
