In 2018, a 16-year-old girl and her 3-year-old sister were hit by a car at the unmarked intersection of South 12th Street and South Puget Sound Avenue. The City Council agreed on Aug. 19, 2025, to pay $2.3 million to settle a lawsuit that alleged the crossing was a known danger to pedestrians.
