Thousands of refugees reached Wisconsin over the past five years, but resettlement has stalled almost entirely
Refugee arrivals in Wisconsin peaked in fiscal year 2024, when more than 1,800 people resettled in the state. Just over 40 refugees — all South Africans — have resettled in Wisconsin since January, not including Afghans who arrived with special immigrant visas.
