UMD Black faculty increased more than any other racial demographic from 2021 to 2023
In 2023, Black students made up nearly 13 percent of this university’s student body and the Black faculty population was less than 7 percent, according to IRPA.
Black faculty saw the most racial demographic increases from 2021 to 2023. This increase has been driven by programs such as the FAMILE initiative, a program aimed at improving faculty diversity by adding more than 100 faculty to departments across campus.
