Reading Has Become Much More Latino Since 2000

While Reading's net population has grown modestly since 2000, the number of white residents has decreased and the Latino population has grown significantly. Most Reading residents now speak a language other than English at home, and nearly one in five were born abroad, according to the Census' American Community Survey.

All figures for 2000 come from that year's census. Total population and race/ ethnicity numbers for 2010 and 2020 come from those years' decennial censuses. Other figures come from the 2008-2012 and 2018-2022 5-year American Community Surveys.
