Emergency services use, hospitalization and medication use among autistic and non-autistic children

Of the three groups, autistic children assessed in the hospital were the most likely to use psychotropic medications, to encounter emergency services and to have been hospitalized previously.

These data come from questionnaires filled out by the caregivers of 1,000 non-autistic children, 1,169 autistic children not currently in the hospital and 567 autistic children hospitalized at the time of assessment.
