Total cases includes all stages and types of syphilis diagnoses. Primary and secondary syphilis cases are the most infectious stages of the disease, which can result in congenital syphilis.

Although overall diagnoses of congenital syphilis are relatively low, at 3,755 cases in 2022, the prevalence within the population has grown dramatically.
