Voter turnout tends to spike in presidential elections. The highest turnout in SLO County since 1980 was in 2000 at 64.5 percent. The 2018 total of 51.8 percent is preliminary and will rise as the final ballots arrive.
Notes: 1998a was a special election to fill the vacancy due to the death of Walter Capps. 2008d was a presidential primary on Feb. 5, separated from the June 3 primary. 2010f was a special primary and general election held for state Senate District 15 to fill vacancy due to the appointment of Abel Maldonado as lieutenant governor.
