What abortion access could look like without Roe

'Trigger' bans and restrictions on abortion care could eliminate access in more than half the US without constitutional protections for abortion under Roe v Wade. Here's how.

Pre-Roe bans preserve law as written before 1973; "trigger" bans take without Roe; near-total ban prohibit abortion under all or nearly all circumstances; six-week bans prohibit abortion after six weeks of pregnancy; state constitutions that bar abortions exclude protections for abortion rights. Restrictions don't include other barriers like required ultrasounds and counseling, exclusions for low-income patients, and other restrictions.
