Mapping NYC's Publicly Owned Parking Footprint

New York City owns 352 parking lots totaling nearly 5.75 million square feet, or about 132 acres. We tried to isolate for surface parking lots, the easiest property to develop into affordable homes. 

The analysis comes from PLUTO Tax Data, isolating G6, G7, and Z2 building classes. Greyed-out community districts were those that did not include city-owned lots.
