Forget home field advantage. In the Northeast, the highest-paid MBAs hail from Stanford GSB. Here, MBAs earned $162,451 in starting pay, up $14,000 from the previous year. The region also attracted nearly 10% of the 2019 graduating class. Wharton MBAs were the runner-ups to Stanford GSB in the Northeast, earning $151,005 to start. They were followed by Berkeley Haas ($150,750), whose graduates actually earned more than HBS MBAs starting out. Haas grads also saw their pay jump by nearly $17,000, though programs like Georgia Tech and Georgetown also posted pay improvements by $25K or more in 2019. Overall, this year’s highest base belonged to a Stanford GSB grad at $267K, with a Yale SOM MBA nabbing $250K to start. In fact, 11 schools reported that their Northeast hires were earning $200K or more to start.
