Occupancy rates at major Mississippi hospitals

The average percent of staffed beds occupied by patients in Mississippi hospitals with over 250 licensed beds has grown since 2020. Occupancy rates averaged 73.1% in 2020 and 80.7% in the first four months of 2024.

Data collected March 2020 through April 2024. Occupancy rates are calculated using hospitals' self-reported data for the average number of staffed inpatient beds in their facility including all overflow, observation, and active surge/expansion beds and the average total number of staffed inpatient beds that are occupied. Some hospitals did not begin reporting data until August 2020.
