NFHS data paints a clear picture of link between education and wealth

Wealth distribution of the population by years of schooling (figures in %)

The quintiles divide Indians into five groups of equal size based on their scores on the NFHS' "wealth index". This index is based on households' ownership of consumer goods, ranging from a television to a bicycle or car, and housing characteristics such as source of drinking water, toilet facilities, and flooring materials. The lowest quintile represents the poorest group, and the highest one represents the richest.
