The NYPD defines "Seven Major Felony Offenses" as murder, non-negligible manslaughter, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny, and grand larceny of motor vehicle. The NYPD defines "Non-Seven Major Felony Offenses" as felony possession stolen property, forgery/theft-fraud/identity theft, arson, felony sex crimes, fel. dangerous drugs, fel. dangerous weapons, fel. criminal mischief & related offenses, and other felonies (which contains primarily the penal law offenses of criminal contempt, reckless endangerment, and aggravated harassment as well as other state laws (tax law, ABC, etc.).
