A recent study from the Federal Office of Insurance looked at 200 New Mexico ZIP codes on a variety of factors related to insurance and climate change risk. In 2022, 152 of 200 ZIP codes analyzed in the study had non-renewal rates of above 1.04%, which was the national average that year.
The study also found that 36 of the 200 ZIP codes were in the top 20% highest risk for climate-related perils, especially wildfire.
