Deportations and ‘voluntary departures’

The monthly number of people deported or leaving the U.S. by “voluntary departure” rose sharply in 2025, then fell in recent months. “Voluntary departure” allows people to leave the country without removal orders on their record that can bar them from returning for up to 10 years.

Note: Data shows monthly totals from Oct. 2022 through Feb. 2026. The second chart includes people forced out after they were arrested in any U.S. state or other locations, including U.S. military bases and U.S. territories.
