Nearly 1 million lost power in January 2026 storm

At the height of the Jan. 23-27, 2026, storm, nearly 1 million customers had lost power as ice and snow brought down tree branches and power lines. About 300,000 were still without power on Jan. 29, primarily in Mississippi and Tennessee. Southern states were hit hardest.
