Electrical Marketing's editors looked at sales estimates, population change and single-family building permits to make our picks for the fastest-growing small counties in 2025 with a population of 500,000 or less.

This graphic will help you see clusters of growth in specific metro areas. For example, you may be surprised to find several counties in the Indianapolis, IN, and Cincinnati, OH, metros ranked amongst the fastest-growing counties. It's not as suprising to see counties in the Charlotte, NC, and Sarasota, FL metros as counties to watch for 2025.

Notes: Sales estimates use Electrical Wholesaling's sales-per-employee multipliers from the 2024 Market Planning Guide of $78,775 per electrical contractor employee and $2,650 per industrial employee. Employee countsand sales change data are derived from the Q2 2024 and Q2 2023 figures for construction and industrial employment published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (The June 2024 figure used in the three-month average was preliminary. Population data and building permits come from the U.S. Census Bureau.
