State paid family and medical leave wage replacement

Wage replacement and weekly benefit amounts for workers at different wage levels, by state, using 2026 minimum wage and state average weekly wages.

Note that benefit amounts will be different once the Maryland program is in effect because of interim changes in wages. The data here is presented for purposes of present-day comparisons.

* Provide sliding scale of wage replacement, so that rate shown for higher wage workers is a blended rate, constrained both by the wage replacement rules and by the benefit cap.
** Connecticut’s and D.C.’s benefit caps are pegged to the minimum wage; all other states are pegged to average wages.
‡ The New York wage replacement scheme presented in this table only applies to family leave; personal medical leave has a different wage replacement scheme, with maximum benefits capped at $170 per week.
