The diaspora has been more forgiving towards the food security initiative
Results of the vote on September 27, 2026, on the food security initiative in the districts representing Swiss citizens living abroad and among the electorate as a whole.
*The FSO provides detailed statistics on voting by Swiss citizens living abroad for only 12 cantons: Aargau (AG), Appenzell Inner Rhodes (AI), Basel City (BS), Fribourg (FR), Geneva (GE), Lucerne (LU), St Gallen (SG), Thurgau (TG), Uri (UR), Vaud (VD), Valais (VS) and Zurich (ZH). Votes cast by Swiss citizens living abroad were calculated on the basis of 39,816 valid ballot papers.
