Less than 1 out of 3 Nashville 3rd-8th graders proficient in English Language Arts, 2026 data shows

About 32% of Nashville 3rd-8th graders met or exceeded expectations on their ELA end-of-year exams, which is nearly 10% below the state average of 40.5%.

2026 marked the third year in a row that English Language Arts was the lowest-scoring core subject in end-of-course exams for Nashville 3rd-8th graders.
