Monthly number of SNAP recipients since FY 2016

The number of people enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in April 2026 declined about 13% from the year prior.

Most February 2019 SNAP benefits were issued early in January 2019 because of the partial government shutdown. As a result, January 2019 shows an increase in benefits issued, while February 2019 shows a significant decrease.
