At-risk rural hospitals

California has 28 rural hospitals identified in a recent letter by a group of Senate Democrats as being at risk of closure or cutting services due to recently approved Medicaid cuts. At risk hospitals are identified either by their concentration of Medicaid patients (known in California as Medi-Cal) or for failing to turn a profit over the last three years.
