Americans' Confidence in Nine Institutions Since 1974

Tracking public confidence in nine institutions since 1973 (in Finance, since 1975). Respondents could choose between "a great deal," "only some," and "hardly any" confidence in each of the nine. The score is derived by subtracting the number of "hardly any" responses from the number of "a great deal" responses, then dividing the remainder by the sum of all three responses. So, the score indicates overall public confidence, plus strength of that sentiment. Non-answers were ignored.
