Coming super El Niño could be strongest in generations, if not ever

The Oceanic Niño Index measures the sea surface temperature anomaly in a region of the eastern equatorial Pacific. The threshold for El Niño is +0.5 degrees Celsius on the Oceanic Niño Index.
