Federal stimulus money helped stabilize the child care industry in Pennsylvania during the coronavirus pandemic. But advocates say the industry is still struggling.

Federal figures for 2023-24 include a recommended supplemental appropriation in the governor's budget proposal. Some discretionary funds related to the coronavirus that supported child care in Pennsylvania are not included in how the Independent Fiscal Office categorized Federal - Child Care COVID Funds. State funds refer to two line items in the state budget: Child Care Services and Child Care Assistance.
