COPD disease rates are shown for majority desert counties based on the 2021 PLACES data release from the CDC. Estimates of COPD prevalence indicate the age-adjusted percentage of the population over 18 with COPD based on 2019 BRFSS survey data. Prevalence information is unknown and not shown for one majority desert county: Chugach Census Area, AK (FIPS 02063). 

A majority desert county is a county with over 50% of its population living 
at least 1-hour driving distance away from the nearest pulmonologist. Legend scale is based on quartile ranges for national prevalences. The "High COPD Prevalence" tag is assigned if a county's COPD prevalence is greater than the prevalence in 75% of all other counties in the U.S.
