In terms of gender, differences narrow when states are combined into regions. Notably, the percentage of women is highest in the West, where women account for 43.74% of GMATs. The numbers don’t improve as you move to the Northeast (42.56%), South (41.07%), Mid-Atlantic (40.86%), Midwest (40.38%), and Southwest (38.98%). As a whole, the South tends to shy away from the MBA, with 36% of test-takers pursuing a different degree (with that number being 44.3% among women).
