At high-achieving schools, students are competing with their classmates for admission to UC San Diego

Over the period 2022-24, the admission rate is much higher for applicants from schools with few other applicants. At schools with lots of applicants, the admission rate is effectively capped, meaning that students are competing with their classmates for the available places.

All California public schools with at least three admits in each of 2022-24 are shown. Bay Area is the six county Bay Area. South Coast is Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego. The border between NorCal and SoCal is the northern border of San Luis Obispo, Kern, and San Bernardino Counties.
