Status of open banking and open finance legislation or regulation or guidance worldwide in 2024

In 2024, out of the 95 jurisdictions that had some form of open banking regulatory framework, 63 percent had enacted legislation, regulations, or guidance. Another 27 percent of the jurisdictions were developing or planning regulatory frameworks. Open finance implementation lagged behind, with only 28 percent of the 57 active jurisdictions having passed legislation or regulations, though a significant share of jurisdictions were making progress in the development phase.
