Day of the Dead originated in Mexico but is celebrated across Latin America and the Caribbean. The majority, 40%, of foreign-born Marylanders were born in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to the Migration Policy Institute in 2019. Many will remember loved ones who died from COVID-19 on this year’s holiday.
