Latinos make up the largest group of immigrants in Delaware, with nearly a third of those hailing from Mexico
Breakdown by continent of origin of Delaware's immigrant population as of 2023, according to the Migration Policy Institute. Out of just over a million residents in the state at the time, about 115,000 were born outside of the US, around 11% of the total population.
The chart displays six regions of birth for Delaware’s foreign-born population based on Migration Policy Institute 2023 data. Latin America is the largest region of origin at 42.3 percent. Asia follows at 30.4 percent. Africa accounts for 15.4 percent, and Europe represents 10.9 percent. Northern America makes up 1.1 percent, and Oceania is effectively zero. The chart illustrates that most foreign-born Delaware residents come from Latin America and Asia.
