Nearly $45 million in tariff subsidy payments were made by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to farmers in the central San Joaquin Valley who may have been affected by President Trump's trade war with China.
Payments were made to qualifying dairy, cotton, almond, cherry, wheat, corn, soybean and hog farmers in Fresno, Kings, Madera, Merced and Tulare counties.
