Positive index values indicate tighter-than-average financial conditions in the U.S. Negative values indicate looser-than-average conditions.
The area line chart shows the national financial conditions index, which measures tightening and loosening financial conditions in the U.S. and is published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Data from January 2018 through February 2023.
