Where Riding a Motorcycle Is Most Deadly
Rankings are based on per capita fatality rates, calculated by dividing each state’s 2024 motorcyclist deaths by its 2024 population and multiplying by 100,000. Motorcyclists killed includes both riders and passengers. Per capita rates allow fair comparisons between states of very different sizes, which is why a smaller state like Wyoming can outrank a larger state like Florida even though Florida recorded more total deaths.
