This line graph shows the CalFresh participation rates of three groups over time: California Community College students, UC undergraduates, and UC graduates. The participation rate for community college students stayed fairly flat around 10-12%, then increased to 14.4% in 2021-22. The participation rate for UC undergraduates increased from 2.4% in 2010-11 to 20.7% in 2021-22. Among UC graduate students, it increased from 0.5% in 2010-11 to 12.3% in 2021-22.

The horizontal axis corresponds to school year, which begins in June and ends in May.

Students are identified as participating in CalFresh if they received CalFresh benefits during a term (quarter or semester, depending on the school) in which they were also enrolled in college.
