Energy may be the future…but it sure doesn’t pay like it – at least as far as MBAs are concerned. True to form, Stanford GSB drew the highest pay at $168,100 on average based on 6 hires. Energy-related firms added 7 Wharton MBAs to the payroll in 2023, where pay averaged $159,714. In the cases of Stanford GSB and Wharton, the highest base salaries doled out were $200,000 each. However, the largest Energy paycheck was negotiated by a Harvard Business School grad at $240,000, with a Carnegie Mellon Tepper grad attracting a $210,000 base. Studying in energy-rich Texas didn’t boost pay for local schools, either. Texas McCombs grads averaged $133,749 in Energy, while Rice Jones trailed closely behind at $129,357.
