Rating the economy, before and after the 2016 election

Gallup polled voters about where they felt the economy was headed just before and just after the Nov. 8, 2016 presidential election. Once a Republican won the White House, Republicans reported a much rosier view of the economy's outlook, while Democrats grew more pessimistic.

Pre-election polling occurred Nov. 1-7, post-election polling was Nov. 9-13.
