Major City Homicide Clearance Rates (2017)

Data below represents homicide clearance rates from 2017 of the following police departments: New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. A homicide clearance rate is the measurement used to determine the percentage of homicides that resulted in an offender being charged the crime. The New York Police Department (NYPD) had the highest clearance rate (85%) with the Chicago Police Department (CPD) having the lowest (36%).
