Some people think the United States revolves around New York City? 220 miles away, the nation’s capital just snickers. You would be hard pressed to find any big player that isn’t represented in the Beltway — except Stanford GSB, which managed to place just one 2016 graduate in the region last year. Like 2015, Harvard stepped in to fill the void, with 28 graduates commanding a $139,671 base, up over $8,500 from the previous year. In fact, the Mid-Atlantic was extremely kind to many programs, including Wharton, NYU Stern, and Northwestern Kellogg graduates, who enjoyed pay increases of $15,000, $21,000, and $12,000 over the previous year. The region also wasn’t shy about throwing around big money. Forget the Harvard and Wharton grads who each started out with a $250,000 base. Instead, picture the big starting paychecks being doled out to graduates at Temple ($179,000), Washington University ($156,000), and Maryland ($138,000).
