This table is intended as an indication of how many mayors have close links to their authorities rather than an absolute measurement. Ken Livingstone was elected for his first mayoral term as an independent and his second as Labour party candidate. Dan Norris was elected as a Labour mayor but was suspended from the party in April 2025. Jamie Driscoll was elected as a Labour mayor but resigned from the party in July 2023.
