Aggravated assaults drive increase in rate of violent crime reported per 1,000 students

The violent crime rate for institutions with at least 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students and on-campus housing rose to 2.2 in 2022, a nine-year high. Violent crimes made up over 56% of crimes reported in 2022.
