State subsidies for major meatpackers

Major meatpackers received subsidies from 38 states between 2006 and 2026. Iowa provided the most tax subsidies to the eight companies, at over $122 million. The majority of those dollars went to Cargill, which received roughly $76 million from Iowa in that time. 2026 data is year-to-date through June.
