Pennsylvania pharmacies per 10K people

There were more than 2,800 pharmacies licensed with the Pennsylvania Department of State as of early July 2025. More than 800 have closed in recent years.

Residents of some Pennsylvania counties have fewer pharmacy options than others. Montour County led the state with 6.6 pharmacies for every 10,000 people.

Many other counties had about 1 or 2 pharmacies for every 10,000 people.

Pennsylvania Department of State records did not list a county for 16 pharmacies. We excluded those from this analysis. Data refer to pharmacies considered active or active on probation. The data does not distinguish between different types of pharmacies, such as mail-order.
