Federal K-12 education funding by state

The U.S. Department of Education provides key funding for K-12 schools, including Title I grants for low-income districts and COVID-19 relief aid. In fiscal year 2022 — the most recent year with available data from the National Center for Education Statistics — the 15 states with the highest percentage of their K-12 budgets coming from federal funding all voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Similarly, 10 of the 15 states receiving the highest amounts of Title I funding in fiscal year 2024 also voted for Trump, according to the education department’s grant funding and status data.
