Transgender people across all racial and ethnic groups report highest rates of anxiety and depression in the last year

Among women and men who did not identify as transgender, multiracial or other and Hispanic Americans reported relatively higher rates of anxiety and depression compared to other racial and ethic groups. Shown is the percentage of survey respondents reporting symptoms consistent with major anxiety or depressive disorder.

Results are averaged from U.S. Census Household Pulse Surveys conducted between March 2022 and April 2023. Approximated margins of error for the data pooled over six months range from less than +/-1 percentage point for largest groups sampled (white males and females) to +/-9 percentage points among smallest groups sampled (transgender Black and Asian Americans).
